"Run Hot" is a freeware adventure game I'm making, using the AGS system by Chris Jones (see link on sidebar).

Set in a bizzare far-future, this is an action-comedy animated adventure game.

PROGRESS

JULY 2002 - I'm still alive! I updated my art page, including some new stuff I've been doing for various adventure games.

13 JAN 2002 - For the curious, I'm putting up an old project I made for school. This is PainBrush, a random or indeterminate painting program:
PainBrush (DOS, 263 K)

It's very primitive, so don't blame me if it doesn't work.

In RH news, I am currently tweaking the navigation and GUI extras. However, there is still a large mass of actual game I need to work on. Most of the scenes and puzzles have been scripted, at least on paper. I hope you like relentlessly logical puzzles.

03 JAN 2002 - I've been working slowly but surely on the game. I just added more to the GUI. I think by now it might be the most option-packed gui ever seen in AGS. There's even customizable label displays. Also, I'm expanding the intro and have been working on the ship's navigation screen.

06 DEC 2001 - It's been a busy few weeks. And I even managed to squeeze in some time to work on RH. I'm thinking of releasing my game all at once, instead of in several parts. Because frankly, it would be disappointing to put out such a short Part One, with the rest coming god-knows-when. So what have I been adding to the game? Well, I am adding a location called the Hall of 1000 Bodhisattvas. Did you think this game would be all Star Wars parodies? I'm going to squeeze in a few Buddhist sculpture parodies too. I'm not kidding. This is going to be one strange game. Here's some new misc images for the game:

By the way, Mixnmojo is back up, but I don't beleive the Monkeygames site is back yet, so the above link to the RH site is still down. Hopefully, it will be back soon.

30 OCT 2001 - First of all, monkeygames website is down at the moment, as is all of mixnmojo and adventuredeveloper. It should come back to life. That's what they tell me. In other news, look for a full article about the production of Run Hot that I wrote for the next issue of AGDZine. So how's the production of RH going? Slow. I added more art on the art page by the way.

Also, I've taken over maintaining the Reality on the Norm page, so go over there and support the project.

25 SEPT 2001 - I added an Art section (see link on the left). It shows some screens I've done for various games. Maybe I should stop working on other people's games and worry about my own. Anyway, to update, I have made several more screens for RH in the past few weeks. Progress is slow but ongoing.

06 SEPT 2001 - After a long summer vacation, I'm back. I've been farming out animation jobs to some people in the AGS community. So thanks to all those who are helping. RH is going to be very animated and fun.

04 JULY 2001 - The game is progressing. It will take a little longer. But keep watching this space.

22 JUNE 2001 - Run Hot is now part of the Monkeygames family. Go there to see new (and old) screenshots and info. That site will be the main presentation site. This page will remain up just for my news on making the game. In related news, I have set a definite goal for myself regarding the release of the first part of the game. That date is the 4th of July. Thank you.

12 JUNE 2001 - The site now has a new title graphic courtesy of chimney12.

10 JUNE 2001 - This website has been updated with more recent information, including character profiles (scroll down page).

30 MAY 2001 - Drew more inventory graphics. Also drew the graphics for the slot machine. There's a translucent overlay on top of the windows. Hope it won't run too slow on people's machines. I'm on a PIII 600MHz, so I don't know. It's going to be at 320X200 Hi-color. My other game was like that and no one complained, so...

27 MAY 2001 - I'm adding a slot machine minigame into the game. Kind of a tribute to the old Space Quest. Hey, the game's coming out soon, so don't worry.

19 MAY 2001 - I'm back. School is over.. for now. Now to tear myself away from the Nintendo emulator... while I still have free time... As you can see above, I have revised my release date to 1 week from now. And just to prove I've still been working on the game:

7 MAY 2001 - Wow. When I said I wanted to release part 1 by May 10, I forgot that final projects and stuff at school were gonna be crushing the life out of me at that particular time... Well, I will do my best.

29 APRIL 2001 - No screenshot, but an update. I animated a character named Turfus. I also drew a couple of rooms on the canyon planet. I have an action set-piece thing that will happen on these screens that will be a real pain in the ass to make. Also, I did the background on the amazing falling room. I could describe it more, but where's the element of surprise?

23 APRIL 2001 - More rooms being drawn. You can also see the face of the ship's computer, COACH. In the game, you will be able to type in queries (using AGS's InputBox feature), and it will bring up information from its database. Makes me think about using some kind of "Click & Parse" interface... Maybe in another game.

21 APRIL 2001 - Here's another sampling of art from the game.

18 APRIL 2001 - Screenshot showing zero-G room and the drop down menu:

18 APRIL 2001 - Things are progressing well. The main character can walk all the way around the ship (though neither's graphics are complete yet). In the pictures you can get an idea of the art style. Also, you can see frames from the flic animation I made for the intro.

15 APRIL 2001 - I did more artwork this weekend. The ships really do fly past the cabin window at random intervals. Also, you'll notice the rendered space backgrounds and a planet. Still no main character, though.

13 APRIL 2001 - Here's several rooms in the process of being drawn. These rooms are from the main character's ship. You can also see my new GUI graphics in progress.
